HORST KAISER Sadly, on November 26, 2015, Horst Kaiser passed away at age 60. Horst was a good father and friend to all. A man with a strong work ethic who could not walk away from a job until absolute perfection was obtained. His love and care for animals was a high priority, frequently bringing lost or injured animals into his care. He will be dearly missed by his children, Elizabeth and Richard, as well as many dear friends and pets. As he expressed many times, a funeral will not take place but a memorial will be held at a later date, to be announced. Horst had a very soft heart which at times did not beat to the world's rhythm. We pray he is now in a perfect gentle place where his soul can finally rest.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My sincerest condolences to the family. I am so sorry I found out now about your loss. I was thinking about him the other day and am in shock that he passed away. I knew Horst in the early 90s. He tried to teach me how to drive his classic car, what I called "the Beast". I never could drive that thing. It still makes me laugh. I loved his sense of humour and he was a fun loving guy, very kind and a gentle person. I will never forget him. He was one of a kind. - Posted by: Sheri Malm (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2023

  • Horst my apologies that I only just found this (2021). Today March 02, 2021 would have been your 66th birthday. My sincerest condolences to your family. We lost touch in the 80's after I moved away for work but I remember hanging out in high school in the 70's and the good times we had cruising around in your "Epic". Later came the Capri which you juiced up and then totalled it twice, thank God you were never hurt. Your Dad's Meteor always got a good workout on weekends cruising to BDI or that other ice cream place, can't remember the name of it right now (DairyMaid?) and Tubby`s Pizza for shrimp pizzas. I remember for my 18th birthday you took me to the 3 outlets it had in Winnipeg for my free ice cream.....Osborne near crazy corner, Regent and Portage Ave. We always stayed in shape swimming, cycling and running either to the Park or on the Gritty Grotto track at MaxBell. Then there was the one time we decided to bicycle to see Allan Toole at the cottage 10 miles past Gimli. We set out at 3 am and managed to bike the 70+ miles by 9:30 am almost getting nailed by cars on the highway...what were we thinking with no lights! Our butts were so sore, thankfully Allan's dad gave us a ride back on Monday morning. Your chess skills were second to none winning as a the Winnipeg highschool champion back in 1972 or so. I still have the news clipping somewhere. You, Carmen, Alan and I were the 4 musketeers. Your Mom and Dad were great, letting you cook the best pizzas with about 2 lbs of cheese and your Dad made the best cherry brandy. I miss those times old friend and wish you and your family peace and good memories as I have of you. - Posted by: Dennis Merber (friend) on: Mar 02, 2021

  • Horst was my childhood friend (1961) when my parent moved to Winnipeg from Cleveland, Ohio USA. He will be missed! - Posted by: Oscar Alcancia (Childhood friend ) on: Apr 01, 2016

  • I was deeply saddened to hear that Horst passed away. I met Horst when he came to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. I adopted a dog to Horst and we became good friends. He always had a great love for animals and became a favorite visitor to the staff at the Shelter. I will always remember his kind and gentle personality and feel blessed to have known him. He will be greatly missed by the Shelter staff and myself. Carla, Director of Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter - Posted by: Carla Martinelli-Irvine (Friend) on: Feb 06, 2016

  • My dearest Horst, you were the first love of my life, over the years I thought of you often, your closeness to your mom. I hoped you were doing ok when I heard she had passed. Glad you have a family, still loved animals, and wonder if you still painted. I remember when you painted my car orange. The world will miss your sweetness and humor. - Posted by: darlene parsons (friend) on: Dec 14, 2015

  • OMG Horst I am going to miss your quirky way and all your silly comments. Just know you are missed. It will not be the same without you at work. - Posted by: Robin (Co-worker) on: Dec 12, 2015
